New exhibition at the Museum
A new exhibition looking at the Macardle Moore Brewery has just opened at the Museum. The Macardle Moore exhibition is a collection of photographs, award and documents charting the brewery’s history from its foundation in 1863 to its closure in 2001. According to Brian Walsh, Curator, “the exhibition highlights the nature of what was for many people a home from home. The photos on display capture that feeling of family which existed among the workforce there.”
With images going back to the first decade of the 20th Century the exhibition captures the changing fortunes of the brewery over its lifetime. According to Brian Walsh “The most important aspect of the exhibition is that it captures the personality of the place. The exhibition is located just off our main industrial gallery which highlights the industrial output of the county in facts and statistics allies to a timeline. This exhibition looks behind this mask to reveal the human story of one of Dundalk’s major employers and this reveals a fascinating story.
Admission to the exhibition is free. More information may be had by contacting the Museum at 042 9327056.
